[1014] Therein, in which eight worldly conditions (lokadhamma) is there vexation (paṭighāta) of the mind (citta)? Attachment (sārāga) to gain (lābha), resentment (paṭivirodha) at loss (alābha); attachment to fame (yasa), resentment at obscurity (ayasa); attachment to praise (pasaṃsā), resentment at blame (nindā); attachment to pleasure (sukha), resentment at pain (dukkha) — in these eight worldly conditions there is vexation of the mind.
