[1029] Therein, which are the ten fetters (saṃyojana)? The fetter of sensual lust (kāmarāga-saṃyojana), the fetter of repulsion (paṭigha-saṃyojana), the fetter of conceit (māna-saṃyojana), the fetter of wrong view (diṭṭhi-saṃyojana), the fetter of doubt (vicikicchā-saṃyojana), the fetter of adherence to rules and rituals (sīlabbataparāmāsa-saṃyojana), the fetter of lust for existence (bhavarāga-saṃyojana), the fetter of envy (issā-saṃyojana), the fetter of avarice (macchariya-saṃyojana), the fetter of ignorance (avijjā-saṃyojana). These are the ten fetters.
