[1088] In the form element (rūpadhātu), how many aggregates (khandha) … how many minds (citta)? In the form element there are five aggregates, six sense bases (āyatana), nine elements (dhātu), three truths (sacca), fourteen faculties (indriya), eight roots (hetu), three nutriments (āhāra), four contacts (phassa), four feelings (vedanā), four perceptions (saññā), four volitions (cetanā), four minds. Therein, which are the five aggregates in the form element? The form aggregate (rūpakkhandha) … the consciousness aggregate (viññāṇakkhandha). These are called the five aggregates in the form element. Therein, which are the six sense bases in the form element? The eye base (cakkhāyatana), the form base (rūpāyatana), the ear base (sotāyatana), the sound base (saddāyatana), the mind base (manāyatana), the mental-phenomena base (dhammāyatana). These are called the six sense bases in the form element. Therein, which are the nine elements in the form element? The eye element (cakkhudhātu), the form element (rūpadhātu), the eye-consciousness element (cakkhuviññāṇadhātu), the ear element (sotadhātu), the sound element (saddadhātu), the ear-consciousness element (sotaviññāṇadhātu), the mind element (manodhātu), the mental-phenomena element (dhammadhātu), the mind-consciousness element (manoviññāṇadhātu). These are called the nine elements in the form element. Therein, which are the three truths in the form element? The truth of suffering (dukkhasacca), the truth of the origin (samudayasacca), the truth of the path (maggasacca). These are called the three truths in the form element. Therein, which are the fourteen faculties in the form element? The eye faculty (cakkhundriya), the ear faculty (sotindriya), the mind faculty (manindriya), the life faculty (jīvitindriya), the joy faculty (somanassindriya), the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya), the faith faculty (saddhindriya), the energy faculty (viriyindriya), the mindfulness faculty (satindriya), the concentration faculty (samādhindriya), the wisdom faculty (paññindriya), the 'I shall come to know the unknown' faculty (anaññātaññassāmītindriya), the perfect-knowledge faculty (aññindriya), the perfect-knower faculty (aññātāvindriya). These are called the fourteen faculties in the form element. Therein, which are the eight roots in the form element? Three wholesome (kusala) roots, two unwholesome (akusala) roots, three indeterminate (abyākata) roots. Therein, which are the three wholesome roots? Non-greed (alobha) is a wholesome root, non-hatred (adosa) is a wholesome root, non-delusion (amoha) is a wholesome root. These are the three wholesome roots. Therein, which are the two unwholesome roots? Greed (lobha) is an unwholesome root, delusion (moha) is an unwholesome root. These are the two unwholesome roots. Therein, which are the three indeterminate roots? Non-greed, non-hatred, and non-delusion in the result (vipāka) of wholesome phenomena (dhammā), or in functional indeterminate phenomena. These are the three indeterminate roots. These are called the eight roots in the form element. Therein, which are the three nutriments in the form element? The nutriment of contact (phassāhāra), the nutriment of mental volition (manosañcetanāhāra), the nutriment of consciousness (viññāṇāhāra). These are called the three nutriments in the form element. Therein, which are the four contacts in the form element? Eye-contact (cakkhusamphassa), ear-contact (sotasamphassa), mind-element contact (manodhātusamphassa), mind-consciousness-element contact (manoviññāṇadhātusamphassa). These are called the four contacts in the form element. Therein, which are the four feelings, four perceptions, four volitions, four minds in the form element? Eye-consciousness (cakkhuviññāṇa), ear-consciousness (sotaviññāṇa), the mind element, the mind-consciousness element. These are called the four minds in the form element.
