[129] Therein, what is the body element (kāya-dhātu)? That body which is sensitivity (pasāda) derived from the four great elements (mahābhūta) … this, too, is "an empty village" — this is called the body element.
Therein, what is the tangible element (phoṭṭhabba-dhātu)? The earth element (paṭhavī-dhātu) … this, too, is the tangible element — this is called the tangible element.
Therein, what is the body-consciousness element (kāyaviññāṇa-dhātu)? Dependent on the body and on tangible objects there arises mind (citta), mentality (mano), mentation (mānasa), heart (hadaya), the lucid (paṇḍara), mentality, the mind base (manāyatana), the mind faculty (manindriya), consciousness (viññāṇa), the consciousness aggregate (viññāṇa-khandha), the corresponding body-consciousness element — this is called the body-consciousness element.
