[145] Therein, which is the noble truth of suffering (dukkhaṃ ariyasaccaṃ)?
Birth (jāti) is suffering (dukkha); aging (jarā) is suffering; death (maraṇa) is suffering; sorrow, lamentation, pain, grief, and despair (soka-parideva-dukkha-domanassa-upāyāsa) are suffering; association with the unloved is suffering; separation from the loved is suffering; not to get what one wants — that too is suffering; in brief, the five aggregates subject to clinging (pañcupādānakkhandhā) are suffering.
