[36] The form aggregate (rūpakkhandha) by way of the fourfold [classification]: That form which is derived (upādā) — there is [that which is] clung-to (upādinna), there is [that which is] not clung-to (anupādinna); that form which is not derived (anupādā) — there is [that which is] clung-to, there is [that which is] not clung-to. That form which is derived — there is [that which is] clung-to and subject to clinging (upādinnupādāniya), there is [that which is] not clung-to but subject to clinging (anupādinnupādāniya); that form which is not derived — there is [that which is] clung-to and subject to clinging, there is [that which is] not clung-to but subject to clinging. That form which is derived — there is [that which is] impingent (sappaṭigha), there is [that which is] non-impingent (appaṭigha); that form which is not derived — there is [that which is] impingent, there is [that which is] non-impingent. That form which is derived — there is [that which is] gross (oḷārika), there is [that which is] subtle (sukhuma); that form which is not derived — there is [that which is] gross, there is [that which is] subtle. That form which is derived — there is [that which is] far (dūre), there is [that which is] near (santike); that form which is not derived — there is [that which is] far, there is [that which is] near. … [there is form that is] seen (diṭṭha), heard (suta), sensed (muta), cognized (viññāta). Thus is the form aggregate by way of the fourfold [classification].
