[860] Therein, what is intoxication with birth (jātimada)? On account of birth (jāti), that which is intoxication, the act of being intoxicated, the state of being intoxicated; conceit (māna), the act of being conceited, the state of being conceited; loftiness, haughtiness, (flaunting like) a banner, hoisting (oneself) aloft, the desire of the mind (citta) for a banner — this is called intoxication with birth.
