[1514] P. Should it not be said, "One destined to abide for an aeon (kappaṭṭha) would remain for the aeon (kappa)"?
S. Yes.
P. But was it not said by the Blessed One:
"Bound for a state of loss and woe (apāya), bound for hell (niraya),
abiding there for the aeon — the one who causes schism in the Saṅgha (saṅghabhedaka);
delighting in faction, established in what is not Dhamma,
he falls away from security from bondage (yogakkhema);
having split the Saṅgha when it was united,
he is boiled in hell for an aeon" —
and does such a discourse (suttanta) really exist?
S. Yes.
P. Well then, one destined to abide for an aeon would remain for the aeon.
