[1644] "Does one person restrain the mind (citta) of another?" "Yes." "But was it not said by the Blessed One: 'By oneself alone is evil done; by oneself is one defiled. By oneself is evil left undone; by oneself alone is one purified. Purity and impurity pertain to oneself alone; no one can purify another'? Is there really such a discourse (suttanta)?" "Yes." "Then indeed it should not be said that one person restrains the mind of another."
