[1698] P. [Paravādin:] Is there untimely death (akālamaccu) for an Arahant?
S. [Sakavādin:] Yes (āmantā).
P. But was it not said by the Blessed One: "Bhikkhus, I do not declare that volitional (sañcetanika) kammas that have been done and accumulated are brought to an end (byantībhāva) without [their results] having been experienced; and that, indeed, [may be] in this very life, or in the next rebirth, or on some subsequent occasion" — is there really such a discourse (suttanta)?
S. Yes.
P. Then indeed there is no untimely death for an Arahant.
[Here ends] the Discussion "There Is No Untimely Death for an Arahant" (Natthi arahato akālamaccūti kathā).
