[1770] [P.] Is it not to be said: "One sees form (rūpa) with the eye (cakkhu) … touches a tangible object (phoṭṭhabba) with the body"?
[S.] Yes.
[P.] But was it not said by the Blessed One: "Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu sees a form with the eye … touches a tangible object with the body"? Is there indeed such a discourse (suttanta)?
[S.] Yes.
[P.] Well then, one sees form with the eye … touches a tangible object with the body.
The Discourse on "One Sees Form with the Eye" (Cakkhunā rūpaṃ passatīti kathā) [concluded].
The Eighteenth Chapter (vagga) [concluded].
Its summary (uddāna):
The Buddha, the Blessed One, remained in the world of men (manussaloka);
the Dhamma was taught by the Buddha, the Blessed One;
the Buddha, the Blessed One, has no compassion (karuṇā);
the excrement and urine of the Buddha, the Blessed One,
far surpass other fragrant substances (gandhajāta);
by a single noble path one realizes
the four fruits of the ascetic life (sāmaññaphala);
one passes from jhāna to jhāna;
there is an interval between jhānas (jhānantarikā);
one who has attained (samāpanna) hears sound;
one sees form with the eye, touches a tangible object with the body.
