[1813] [P.] Is it not to be said: "One who, perceiving it as Dhamma (dhammasaññī), causes schism in the Saṅgha (saṅghabhedaka) is one guilty of [a deed of] immediate result (ānantarika)"?
[S.] Yes.
[P.] But was it not said by the Blessed One:
"Doomed to a state of loss (apāya), doomed to hell (niraya), there to abide for the aeon (kappa), is the breaker of the Saṅgha;
delighting in faction, established in what is not Dhamma, he falls away from security from bondage (yogakkhema);
having broken the concord of the Saṅgha, he is boiled in hell for an aeon"—
does such a discourse indeed exist?
[S.] Yes.
[P.] Well then, one who causes schism in the Saṅgha is guilty of [a deed of] immediate result.
