[1868] Sakavādin: Is there attainment of arahantship (arahattappatti) for one lying in the womb (gabbhaseyyā)? Paravādin: Yes. Sakavādin: Is there attainment of arahantship for one who is asleep, heedless, of muddled mindfulness (muṭṭhassati), not clearly comprehending (asampajāna)? Paravādin: It should not be said thus. … Sakavādin: Is there breakthrough to the Dhamma (dhammābhisamaya) for one in a dream (supinagata)? Paravādin: Yes. Sakavādin: Is there breakthrough to the Dhamma for one who is asleep, heedless, of muddled mindfulness, not clearly comprehending?
