[269] "Is there the living of the holy life (brahmacariyavāsa) among humans?"
"There is [a place] where there is; there is [a place] where there is not."
"Is it that in the border countries there is [a place] where there is and [a place] where there is not the living of the holy life — among milakkhas (barbarians), among those without understanding, where there is no going of bhikkhus, bhikkhunīs, male lay followers (upāsaka), and female lay followers (upāsikā) — and that in the middle countries there is [a place] where there is and [a place] where there is not the living of the holy life?"
"It should not be said thus."
