[386] Sakavādin: The past (atīta) exists? Paravādin: Yes. Sakavādin: But did not the Venerable Nandaka say this: "Formerly there was greed (lobha); that was unwholesome; now it does not exist — thus this is wholesome. Formerly there was hatred (dosa) … Formerly there was delusion (moha); that was unwholesome; now it does not exist — thus this is wholesome"? Is there indeed such a discourse (suttanta)? Paravādin: Yes. Sakavādin: If that is so, then it should not be said that "the past exists."
