[436] Sakavādin: Are all phenomena (dhammā) establishments of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna)?
Paravādin: Yes.
Sakavādin: But was it not said by the Blessed One: "Bhikkhus, with the appearance of a wheel-turning king (rājā cakkavatti) there is the appearance of seven treasures (ratana). Which seven? There is the appearance of the wheel-treasure; there is the appearance of the elephant-treasure; there is the appearance of the horse-treasure; there is the appearance of the gem-treasure; there is the appearance of the woman-treasure; there is the appearance of the householder-treasure; there is the appearance of the counselor-treasure. Bhikkhus, with the appearance of a wheel-turning king there is the appearance of these seven treasures.
"Bhikkhus, with the appearance of a Tathāgata, an Arahant, a Fully Self-Enlightened One, there is the appearance of the seven treasures that are the factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga). Which seven? There is the appearance of the treasure that is the awakening factor of mindfulness (sati); there is the appearance of the treasure that is the awakening factor of investigation of dhammas (dhammavicaya); there is the appearance of the treasure that is the awakening factor of energy (vīriya); there is the appearance of the treasure that is the awakening factor of rapture (pīti); there is the appearance of the treasure that is the awakening factor of tranquility (passaddhi); there is the appearance of the treasure that is the awakening factor of concentration (samādhi); there is the appearance of the treasure that is the awakening factor of equanimity (upekkhā). Bhikkhus, with the appearance of a Tathāgata, an Arahant, a Fully Self-Enlightened One, there is the appearance of these seven treasures that are the factors of awakening" — is there indeed such a discourse (suttanta)?
Paravādin: Yes.
Sakavādin: Then with the appearance of a Tathāgata, an Arahant, a Fully Self-Enlightened One, are all phenomena treasures that are the awakening factor of mindfulness?
Paravādin: It should not be said thus. …
Sakavādin: Are all phenomena establishments of mindfulness?
Paravādin: Yes.
Sakavādin: Are all phenomena right strivings (sammappadhāna) … bases of spiritual power (iddhipāda) … faculties (indriya) … powers (bala) … factors of awakening?
Paravādin: It should not be said thus. …
