[439] [Sakavādin:] Does the present (paccuppanna) exist? [Paravādin:] In such a way it exists; in such a way it does not exist (hevatthi, heva natthi). [Sakavādin:] Is it the very same thing that exists and the very same thing that does not exist? [Paravādin:] It should not be said so. … [Sakavādin:] Is it the very same thing that exists and the very same thing that does not exist? [Paravādin:] Yes. [Sakavādin:] Is the meaning (attha) of "it exists" the meaning of "it does not exist" … the same, of equal measure, of the very same nature? [Paravādin:] It should not be said so. …
