[647] Sakavādin: All conditioned things (saṅkhārā), without making any limitation, are hot embers (kukkuḷa)?
Paravādin: Yes.
Sakavādin: But was it not said by the Blessed One:
"Happy is seclusion for one who is content, who has heard the Dhamma, who sees;
non-affliction is happiness in the world — restraint towards living beings;
happy is detachment in the world — the transcending of sensual pleasures;
the removal of the conceit 'I am' — this truly is the supreme happiness.
That happiness has been attained through happiness — that is indeed absolute happiness;
the three true knowledges (vijjā) have been attained — this truly is the supreme happiness"
— and does such a sutta indeed exist?
Paravādin: Yes.
Sakavādin: Then indeed it should not be said that all conditioned things, without making any limitation, are hot embers.
