The person (puggala) practicing for the realization (sacchikiriyā) of the fruition of stream-entry (sotāpattiphala), while seeing suffering (dukkha), is to be called "one practicing" (paṭipannaka), yet when suffering has been seen, it is not to be said that he is one to be called "established in the fruition (phale ṭhito)"? P. Yes. S. Is the seeing (dassana) of suffering useless¹? P. It should not be said thus. … S. While seeing the origin (samudaya) … while seeing cessation (nirodha), he is to be called "one practicing," yet when cessation has been seen, it is not to be said that he is one to be called "established in the fruition"?
