[827] Sakavādin: Does the Venerable Sāriputta have the divine eye (dibbacakkhu)?
Paravādin: Yes.
Sakavādin: But did not the Venerable Sāriputta say this:
"Neither for [knowledge of] former abodes (pubbenivāsa), nor for the divine eye,
nor for the encompassing of [others'] minds (cetopariya), nor for psychic power (iddhi), nor for the purification of the ear element (sotadhātu-visuddhi),
nor for [knowledge of] passing away and reappearance (cuti–upapatti) — no aspiration (paṇidhi) is found in me."
Is there indeed such a discourse (suttanta)?
Paravādin: Yes.
Sakavādin: In that case, it should not be said, "The knowledge (ñāṇa) of beings faring according to their kamma (yathākammūpagata-ñāṇa) is the divine eye."
