[885] [Sakavādin:] Is it not the case that the rebirth-seeking mind (upapattesiya-citta) does not lead out [of the round] (aniyyānika), does not lead to destruction (khaya), does not lead to awakening (bodhi), does not lead to dispersion (apacaya), is subject to taints (sāsava) … is subject to defilement (saṅkilesika)?
[Paravādin:] Yes.
[Sakavādin:] If the rebirth-seeking mind does not lead out [of the round], does not lead to destruction, does not lead to awakening, does not lead to dispersion, is subject to taints … is subject to defilement, then surely, sir, you should not say: "One is an Arahant together with rebirth (saha upapattiyā arahā)."
