[954] [Paravādin:] Should it not be said that one is "Buddha" by reason of enlightenment (bodhi)? [Sakavādin:] Yes. [Paravādin:] But is one not "Buddha" by reason of the attainment (paṭilābha) of enlightenment? [Sakavādin:] Yes. [Paravādin:] If one is "Buddha" by reason of the attainment of enlightenment, then indeed, good sir, it should be said that one is "Buddha" by reason of enlightenment.
