[246] Bhikkhus, thus the invitation (pavāraṇā) is suspended; thus it is not suspended.
And how, bhikkhus, is the invitation not suspended? If, bhikkhus, when the invitation by the triple statement (tevācikā) has been spoken, uttered, and brought to completion, one suspends the invitation, the invitation is not suspended. If, bhikkhus, when the invitation by the double statement (dvevācikā), or, bhikkhus, by the single statement (ekavācikā), or, bhikkhus, the invitation of those of equal rains (samānavassikā) has been spoken, uttered, and brought to completion, one suspends the invitation, the invitation is not suspended. Thus, bhikkhus, the invitation is not suspended.
And how, bhikkhus, is the invitation suspended? If, bhikkhus, when the invitation by the triple statement has been spoken and uttered but not brought to completion, one suspends the invitation, the invitation is suspended. If, bhikkhus, when the invitation by the double statement, or, bhikkhus, by the single statement, or, bhikkhus, the invitation of those of equal rains has been spoken and uttered but not brought to completion, one suspends the invitation, the invitation is suspended. Thus, bhikkhus, the invitation is suspended.
