[65] Then the Venerable Assaji spoke this exposition of the Dhamma (dhammapariyāya) to Sārīputta the wanderer (paribbājaka): "Whatever dhammas arise from a cause, the Tathāgata has declared (āha) their cause, and also that which is their cessation (nirodha) — of such a doctrine is the Great Ascetic (mahāsamaṇa)."
