[1661] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) that is not defiled but subject to defilement, a phenomenon that is not defiled but subject to defilement arises through root condition (hetu-paccaya).
Dependent on one aggregate (khandha) that is not defiled but subject to defilement, three aggregates and mind-originated materiality (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) arise; dependent on two aggregates, two aggregates and mind-originated materiality arise. At the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhikkhaṇa), dependent on one aggregate that is not defiled but subject to defilement, three aggregates and kamma-born materiality (kaṭattā-rūpa) arise; dependent on two aggregates, two aggregates and kamma-born materiality arise; dependent on the aggregates, the base (vatthu) arises; dependent on the base, the aggregates arise; dependent on one primary element (mahābhūta), three primary elements arise; dependent on the primary elements, mind-originated materiality, kamma-born materiality, derivative materiality (upādā-rūpa) arise.
