[657] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is both a hindrance (nīvaraṇa) and associated with hindrances is a condition for a phenomenon that is both a hindrance and associated with hindrances by object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya); is a condition by connascence condition (sahajāta-paccaya); is a condition by decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya). Thus all nine [sections] are to be varied among the three terms.
