[825] Conjoined with a phenomenon (dhamma) that leads out (niyyānika), a phenomenon that leads out arises through root condition (hetu-paccaya): three aggregates (khandhā) conjoined with one aggregate that leads out; with two aggregates … . Conjoined with a phenomenon that does not lead out (aniyyānika), a phenomenon that does not lead out arises through root condition: three aggregates conjoined with one aggregate that does not lead out; with two aggregates … rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi).
