[839] An indeterminate (abyākata) phenomenon (dhamma) associated with pleasant feeling (sukhāya vedanāya sampayutta) is a condition (paccaya) for a not-indeterminate (na-abyākata) phenomenon not associated with pleasant feeling (na-sukhāya vedanāya sampayutta) by object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya). (Abridged.) For the phrase "an indeterminate phenomenon arises," which alone applies, there are three condition headings; varied according to the feelings, twenty-one questions are obtained; they should be distributed according to the roots, namely the indeterminate root associated with painful feeling and the indeterminate root associated with neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling.
