[27] Now at that time bhikkhus who were sick had need of fats (vasa) as medicines. They informed the Blessed One of this matter. "Bhikkhus, I allow fats as medicines—bear fat, fish fat, susukā fat, pig fat, and donkey fat—received at the right time, cooked at the right time, and mixed at the right time, to be consumed in the manner of oil.
"If, bhikkhus, it is received at the wrong time, cooked at the wrong time, and mixed at the wrong time, and one should consume it, there is an offense of three acts of wrong conduct (dukkaṭa).
"If, bhikkhus, it is received at the right time, but cooked at the wrong time and mixed at the wrong time, and one should consume it, there is an offense of two acts of wrong conduct.
"If, bhikkhus, it is received at the right time and cooked at the right time, but mixed at the wrong time, and one should consume it, there is an offense of one act of wrong conduct.
"If, bhikkhus, it is received at the right time, cooked at the right time, and mixed at the right time, and one should consume it, there is no offense."
