[90] Then the Blessed One, having dwelt at Ātumā for as long as he wished, set out on a wandering tour toward Sāvatthī. Wandering by stages, the Blessed One arrived at Sāvatthī. There the Blessed One dwelt at Sāvatthī, in the Jetavana, Anāthapiṇḍika's park.
Now at that time in Sāvatthī there was an abundance of fruit for eating. Then it occurred to the bhikkhus: "Has fruit as food been allowed by the Blessed One, or has it not been allowed?" They reported this matter to the Blessed One.
"Bhikkhus, I allow all fruit as food."
