[19] Now at that time there was a mountaintop festival (giraggasamajja) at Rājagaha. The group-of-six (chabbaggiyā) bhikkhus went to see the mountaintop festival. People criticized, complained, and spread it about, saying: "How can these ascetics, sons of the Sakyan, go to see dancing, singing, and instrumental music, just like householders who enjoy sensual pleasures?" … They reported this matter to the Blessed One. … "Bhikkhus, one should not go to see dancing, singing, or instrumental music. Whoever should go commits an offence of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa)."
