[322] Now at that time, bhikkhus leaned against a wall that had been finished (plastered and polished). The appearance (of the wall) was spoiled. They reported this matter to the Blessed One. "Bhikkhus, a finished wall is not to be leaned against; whoever should lean against one commits an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). I allow, bhikkhus, a leaning board (apassenaphalaka)."
The leaning board scratched the ground below and the wall above. They reported this matter to the Blessed One. "I allow, bhikkhus, to wrap it both below and above with a piece of cloth."
