[456] "Furthermore, bhikkhus, the great ocean is the abode of great beings (bhūtā). These beings are therein: the timi, the timiṅgala, the timitimiṅgala, the mahātimiṅgala, asuras, nāgas, and gandhabbas. In the great ocean there are creatures with bodies (attabhāva) a hundred yojanas in extent, creatures with bodies two hundred yojanas in extent, creatures with bodies three hundred yojanas in extent, creatures with bodies four hundred yojanas in extent, and creatures with bodies five hundred yojanas in extent. Bhikkhus, in that the great ocean is the abode of great beings — these beings being therein: the timi, the timiṅgala, the timitimiṅgala, the mahātimiṅgala, asuras, nāgas, and gandhabbas; and in that in the great ocean there are creatures with bodies a hundred yojanas in extent … creatures with bodies five hundred yojanas in extent — this, bhikkhus, is the eighth wonderful and marvellous quality in the great ocean, seeing which again and again the asuras delight in the great ocean. These, bhikkhus, are the eight wonderful and marvellous qualities in the great ocean, seeing which again and again the asuras delight in the great ocean."
