[461] Bhikkhus, just as whatever streams in the world flow into the great ocean, and whatever showers fall from the sky, yet no deficiency or overfilling of the great ocean is evident on that account — even so, bhikkhus, even if many bhikkhus attain final Nibbāna (parinibbāyanti) in the Nibbāna-element without residue remaining (anupādisesā nibbānadhātu), no deficiency or overfilling of the Nibbāna-element is evident on that account. That even if many bhikkhus attain final Nibbāna in the Nibbāna-element without residue remaining, no deficiency or overfilling of the Nibbāna-element is evident on that account — this, bhikkhus, is the fifth wonderful and marvelous quality in this Dhamma and Discipline, seeing which again and again bhikkhus delight in this Dhamma and Discipline.
