[78] Now at that time in Vesālī an unbroken succession of fine meals had been established. The bhikkhus, having eaten the fine foods, had bodies clogged with morbid humours and were much afflicted with ailments. Then Jīvaka Komārabhacca went to Vesālī on some business or other. Jīvaka Komārabhacca saw the bhikkhus with bodies clogged with humours and much afflicted with ailments, and having seen them, he approached the Blessed One; having approached and paid homage to the Blessed One, he sat down to one side. Sitting to one side, Jīvaka Komārabhacca said this to the Blessed One: "At present, venerable sir, the bhikkhus have bodies clogged with humours and are much afflicted with ailments. It would be good, venerable sir, if the Blessed One would allow the bhikkhus a walking-meditation path (caṅkama) and a bathhouse (jantāghara); in this way the bhikkhus will have few ailments." Then the Blessed One instructed, roused, inspired, and gladdened Jīvaka Komārabhacca with a talk on the Dhamma. Then Jīvaka Komārabhacca, having been instructed, roused, inspired, and gladdened by the Blessed One with a talk on the Dhamma, rose from his seat, paid homage to the Blessed One, circumambulated him keeping him on his right, and departed.
