[1021] For the sake of livelihood, for the reason of livelihood, one of evil wishes (pāpiccha), overcome by desire, lays claim to a superhuman state (uttarimanussadhamma) that is non-existent and untrue; for the sake of livelihood, for the reason of livelihood, one engages in matchmaking (sañcaritta); for the sake of livelihood, for the reason of livelihood, one says, "The bhikkhu who dwells in your dwelling is an arahant"; for the sake of livelihood, for the reason of livelihood, a bhikkhu, having requested fine foods for his own benefit, eats them; for the sake of livelihood, for the reason of livelihood, a bhikkhunī, having requested fine foods for her own benefit, eats them; for the sake of livelihood, for the reason of livelihood, a bhikkhu who is not ill, having requested curry or boiled rice for his own benefit, eats it.
This is what is reckoned as failure in livelihood (ājīvavipatti).
