[1036] As to that which is called "saṅghādisesa (an offense entailing a formal meeting of the Saṅgha)," listen to how that is: It is the Saṅgha alone that grants probation (parivāsa), that sends one back to the beginning (mūlāya paṭikassati), that grants penance (mānatta), and that rehabilitates (abbheti) — therefore it is called thus.
