[1044] What was spoken of as "Sekhiya" — hear how that is:
For a trainee (sekha) who is training, following along the straight path,
this is the beginning, and it is conduct; it is the entrance, restraint that is self-control;
there is no training (sikkhā) like it — therefore it is called thus.
Upon what is concealed the rain pours down; upon what is open the rain does not pour down.
Therefore one should open up what is concealed; thus the rain will not pour down upon it.
The woodland is the resort of deer; the sky is the resort of birds;
dissolution is the destiny of dhammas; Nibbāna is the destiny of the arahant.
The Gāthāsaṅgaṇika is finished.
