[1140] How many roots (mūla) does the kathina (kaṭhina) have? How many bases (vatthu)? How many grounds (bhūmi)? The kathina has one root: the Saṅgha. Three bases: the outer robe (saṅghāṭi), the upper robe (uttarāsaṅga), and the lower robe (antaravāsaka). Six grounds: linen (khoma), cotton (kappāsika), silk (koseyya), wool (kambala), hemp (sāṇa), and coarse cloth of mixed fibers (bhaṅga).
