[223] 'Now, while the good king is performing the great sacrifice, there might be someone who would say: "King Mahāvijita performs a great sacrifice, but he is not well born on both his mother's side and his father's side, not conceived in a pure womb, not unassailable and irreproachable with respect to the reproach of birth back to the seventh generation of paternal ancestors; and yet the good king performs such a great sacrifice." Even so, one who would speak thus of the good king has no legitimate ground. For the good king is indeed well born on both his mother's side and his father's side, conceived in a pure womb, unassailable and irreproachable with respect to the reproach of birth back to the seventh generation of paternal ancestors. By this too let the good king know it: let his honor sacrifice, let his honor give away, let his honor rejoice, and let his honor make his mind confident within.'
