[225] 'Now, while His Majesty the king is performing the great sacrifice, someone might say: "King Mahāvijita performs a great sacrifice, but his brahmin high priest (purohita) is not well born on both sides, on the mother's side and on the father's side, not of pure descent through the womb back through seven generations of paternal ancestors, and is open to challenge and reproach on account of birth — and yet His Majesty the king performs such a great sacrifice." But one who would speak thus of His Majesty has no legitimate ground. For His Majesty's brahmin high priest is indeed well born on both sides, on the mother's side and on the father's side, of pure descent through the womb back through seven generations of paternal ancestors, unchallengeable and irreproachable on account of birth. By this reason too let His Majesty know it: let His Majesty sacrifice, let His Majesty relinquish, let His Majesty rejoice, and let His Majesty make his mind (citta) confident within.'
