[246] "Here, Mahāli, a bhikkhu has concentration (samādhi) developed one-sidedly toward the eastern quarter for the hearing of heavenly sounds that are pleasant, connected with sensuality, and arousing of lust, but not for the seeing of heavenly forms that are pleasant, connected with sensuality, and arousing of lust. When his concentration has been developed one-sidedly toward the eastern quarter for the hearing of heavenly sounds that are pleasant, connected with sensuality, and arousing of lust, but not for the seeing of heavenly forms that are pleasant, connected with sensuality, and arousing of lust, then in the eastern quarter he hears heavenly sounds that are pleasant, connected with sensuality, and arousing of lust, but does not see heavenly forms that are pleasant, connected with sensuality, and arousing of lust. Why is that? Because, Mahāli, this is how it is for a bhikkhu whose concentration has been developed one-sidedly toward the eastern quarter for the hearing of heavenly sounds that are pleasant, connected with sensuality, and arousing of lust, but not for the seeing of heavenly forms that are pleasant, connected with sensuality, and arousing of lust."
