[337] "This, student, is that noble aggregate of wisdom (ariyo paññākkhandho) of which the Blessed One was a speaker of praise, and in which he encouraged, settled, and established this people; and herein there is nothing further to be done."
"It is wonderful, worthy Ānanda! It is marvellous, worthy Ānanda! This noble aggregate of wisdom is complete, not incomplete. And I do not see, worthy Ānanda, a noble aggregate of wisdom thus complete among other ascetics and brahmins outside of this; and there is nothing whatever further to be done.
"Excellent, worthy Ānanda! Excellent, worthy Ānanda! Just as, worthy Ānanda, one might set upright what has been overturned, or uncover what has been concealed, or point out the way to one who is lost, or hold up an oil lamp in the darkness so that those with eyes might see forms—even so has the Dhamma been made clear in many ways by the worthy Ānanda. I, worthy Ānanda, go for refuge to the worthy Gotama, and to the Dhamma, and to the Saṅgha of bhikkhus. May the worthy Ānanda remember me as a lay follower (upāsaka) who has gone for refuge from this day forth for as long as life lasts."
