[355] Then the Blessed One, having dressed in the morning and taking bowl and robe, approached Sālavatikā together with the Saṅgha of bhikkhus. Now on that occasion Rosika the barber was following close behind the Blessed One. Then Rosika the barber said this to the Blessed One: "Venerable sir, an evil view of this sort has arisen in the brahmin Lohicca: 'Here, should an ascetic or a brahmin attain a wholesome state (kusalaṃ dhammaṃ), having attained a wholesome state he should not inform another; for what can one person do for another? Just as if one, having cut an old bond, were to make another new bond — of just such a nature, I say, is this evil thing of greed; for what can one person do for another?' It would be good, venerable sir, if the Blessed One would free the brahmin Lohicca from that evil view."
"Perhaps that may be so, Rosika; perhaps that may be so, Rosika."
Then the Blessed One approached the residence of the brahmin Lohicca; having approached, he sat down on the seat that had been prepared. Then the brahmin Lohicca with his own hand served and satisfied the Saṅgha of bhikkhus headed by the Buddha with excellent hard and soft food.
