[109] "Deposit" (upanidhi) means goods placed in another's keeping.
When told, "Give me my goods," if he says, "I did not take them," there is an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). If he causes doubt to arise in the owner, there is a grave offense (thullaccaya). If the owner gives up the effort, thinking, "He will not give it to me," the bhikkhu commits an offense entailing defeat (pārājika).
If, pursuing a legal action, he defeats the owner, there is an offense entailing defeat. If, pursuing a legal action, he is defeated, there is a grave offense.
