[173] Now at that time, in Bārāṇasī, the family that supported the Venerable Pilindavaccha was raided by thieves, and two children were carried off. Then the Venerable Pilindavaccha, having brought those children back by psychic power (iddhi), placed them in the mansion. People, on seeing those children, gained abundant confidence in the Venerable Pilindavaccha, saying, "This is the might of the psychic power of the noble Pilindavaccha." Bhikkhus complained, criticized, and spread it about, saying, "How indeed could the Venerable Pilindavaccha bring back children carried off by thieves?" They informed the Blessed One of this matter. [He said:] "Bhikkhus, there is no offense (anāpatti) for one possessed of psychic power within the sphere of psychic power."
