[194] "Extols by body" means: he makes a gesture with the body, [conveying]: "Whoever dies thus obtains wealth, or obtains fame, or goes to heaven" — he commits an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). If, on account of that extolling, [the other person], thinking, "I shall die," produces painful feeling (vedanā) — he commits a grave offense (thullaccaya). If he dies — he commits an offense entailing expulsion (pārājika).
"Extols by speech" means: he says with speech: "Whoever dies thus obtains wealth, or obtains fame, or goes to heaven" — he commits an offense of wrong-doing. If, on account of that extolling, [the other person], thinking, "I shall die," produces painful feeling — he commits a grave offense. If he dies — he commits an offense entailing expulsion.
