[24] Then the Blessed One, having given a Dhamma talk with reference to that source and with reference to that occasion, addressed the bhikkhus: "Bhikkhus, whatever bhikkhu, without having renounced the training (sikkhā), without having disclosed his weakness, engages in sexual intercourse — should he come [again for ordination], he is not to be given full ordination. But, bhikkhus, whatever bhikkhu, having renounced the training, having disclosed his weakness, then engages in sexual intercourse — should he come [again], he is to be given full ordination. And thus, bhikkhus, you should recite this training rule (sikkhāpada):
"Whatever bhikkhu, being endowed with the training and way of life of the bhikkhus, without having renounced the training, without having disclosed his weakness, should engage in sexual intercourse (methuna dhamma) — even with a female animal — he is pārājika, not in communion (asaṃvāsa)."
