[289] Now at that time a certain bhikkhu said to a certain lay follower (upāsaka): "Friend, the bhikkhu who dwells in your dwelling (vihāra) is an arahant." And that bhikkhu was dwelling in that lay follower's dwelling. He became remorseful. He reported the matter to the Blessed One. "What was your intention, bhikkhu?" "I intended to boast, Blessed One." "Bhikkhu, there is no offence of pārājika; there is an offence of thullaccaya."
Now at that time a certain bhikkhu said to a certain lay follower: "Friend, the bhikkhu whom you attend upon with robes, almsfood, lodging, and medicinal requisites for the sick is an arahant." And that lay follower was attending upon that bhikkhu with robes, almsfood, lodging, and medicinal requisites for the sick. He became remorseful. He reported the matter to the Blessed One. "What was your intention, bhikkhu?" "I intended to boast, Blessed One." "Bhikkhu, there is no offence of pārājika; there is an offence of thullaccaya."
