[288] Now at that time a certain bhikkhu, gone into privacy, laid boastful claim to a superhuman state (uttarimanussadhamma). A bhikkhu who knew the minds of others rebuked that bhikkhu: "Friend, do not speak in such a way; that state is not found in you." He was remorseful. He reported this matter to the Blessed One. "Bhikkhu, there is no offense entailing defeat (pārājika); there is an offense of wrongdoing (dukkaṭa)."
